Pixelspectrum interview in Design Portal

I had a chance to be interviewed by Jiří Močička (Givision) for the Design Portal. Design Portal is a server dedicated to the Czech design scene. The interview is in Czech, so you might have problem to understand. I am thinking about to translate it, but it could take a while. The main topic of the interview is a design portfolio and presentation.

It would be great if the Design Portal will be multilingual same as the Typo, another great Czech website and magazine especially devoted to the typography, graphic design and visual communication.

Pixelspectum on Flickr

Pixelspectrum now has a new Flickr account. :) I have a free account, but I am thinking to upgrade to the PRO very soon. I would like to find out more about how to use my blog with Flickr together.

I would be very grateful for any advice. I understand that social networking can improve your blog’s traffic a lot. At the moment I am more excited about possibility to link with other Flickr users with the same passion and interests for graphic design, typography and art.

It is off the record at the moment but some of my work may be published in the book Czech Logos (1989 – 2008). If this happen it would be the best Christmas present ever.

Last Friday I have sent two of my posters to the 21st International Poster Biennale Warsaw. It should arrive before the deadline for submission on 17th of February. I hope some of my work will be chosen for the exhibition. Jury will announce the verdict on the opening day June 7th 2008.

My favorite one is the poster Give Blood – Save the life. I really like the double meaning of the white cross and overall simplicity of the poster itself. I am thinking to explore this in more detail in another project.

Refugee Day

Series of posters for the 20th June Refugee Day, UNHCR.

I have started this project while I was a exchange student at UCA – University for the Creative Arts, so quite a long time ago :) I have spent quite long time on research, but didn’t really finished into stage I was really happy. I had a lot of ideas, sketches and collages from newspapers and various websites in my sketchbook. I looked it again and chose those I like the most. I tried to simplify and rationalize the idea, change typography and make message more clear and disciplined.

I am quite happy with these posters (for the moments :) and I submitted two of them to Taiwan International Poster Design Award 2007. It would be absolutely amazing if I would be able to show my posters in Taiwan.
